As part of the New Earth Writers UK Academy Plus this year, we are holding table read events in London, Manchester and Birmingham to allow the writers in the 2026-27 Academy Plus cohort a chance to hear their plays aloud and have a discussion with their peers following the reading of the plays.

Internationally-acclaimed artist and writer Selina Thompson will deliver a free theatre-making workshop on 21st September, which is all about having a series of commitments both aesthetic and political that ground your project.

In collaboration with Kakilang, With Spice, ESEA Creatives Scotland, Hannah Low (with support from National Theatre of Scotland) and Dance Base — this Edinburgh edition is a two-hour session of sharings from our partners, followed by an open exchange for inspiration, resources and support amidst the Edinburgh Fringe Festival hustle.

As part of the Open Works Festival , the BESEA artists and companies New Earth have been supporting will present work developed through the programme. Tickets are now on sale.

We are thrilled to announce our 2026 season — a year packed with exciting projects and partnerships. Central to our vision this year is our commitment to collaboration and working across boundaries to make lasting change together.

A BESEA writers' programme dedicated to the development of a full length play, part-time (approximately 30 total hours) over 5 months October 2026-February 2027. Delivery is a mix of in-person and online; for regional playwrights, all in-person delivery will be provided at the nearest New Earth regional hub and travel costs will be covered.

New Earth Theatre Makers Academy - Liverpool is a 6-week part-time course (one full-day a week) for Merseyside based East and South East Asian ESEA artists and creatives who are interested in theatre and creating their own work for live performance.

New Earth Theatre Makers Academy - Great Manchester is a 1 week full-time course for North West based East Asian and South East Asian creatives and artists who are interested in creating their own work for live performance.

New Earth Theatre Makers Academy - York is a 1 week full-time course for Yorkshire based East Asian and South East Asian creatives and artists who are interested in creating their own work for live performance.

New Earth Performing Shakespeare Academy is a week-long course for actors who already have drama school training and/or are working professionally who would like to gain more confidence and/or experience when it comes to Shakespeare.

Performers Academy will be a one-week full time training course. No previous experience is needed, just lots of enthusiasm.  Students will train in person with a lead course director, voice and movement tutors and  local guest workshop leaders.

A practical, supportive workshop that designed for actors who are new to self-taping, or who would benefit from clearer technical foundations and guidance.

It’s the Shakespeare session! Exploring Shakespeare from an ESEA perspective, Eric Mok hosts this session with his new interpretation of the Scottish play, Macbeth香港.
