In 2025, we had 8 R&Ds for future productions with 9 partners: Tara Theatre, Headlong, Curious Directive, Zoo Co, Finagling, Shakespeare’s Globe, Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse, Kali, and Tangram. 

Granted 10 seed commissions with 42 artists and 9 venue partners: Mercury, Bush Theatre, Contact, Pleasance, The Lowry, Camden People’s Theatre, New Diorama Theatre, Sheffield Theatres, and Theatre in The Mill.

Offered 8 New Earth Academies in 6 different cities, providing 322 hours of free training to 88 BESEA participants with Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, Factory International, Birmingham Hippodrome, Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse, Leeds Play House, Home, The Lowry and New Vic. 

Workshops, 1-1 meetings, artist support sessions, an industry newsletter and more. 

In total 141 artists employed. 340 artists trained or developed. 9420 audiences reached. 38 bursary applicants seen by industry-leading casting directors.

An ambitious archive project covering 30 years of BESEA theatre and a birthday party.
