The Hungry Ghost - R&D Casting Call Out
We are looking for actors for a week-long R&D of The Hungry Ghost by Mei Leng Yew, in April. There will be a full production in London in October. Right now we are only casting for the R&D. There is the potential for a tour in Spring 2027.
The Hungry Ghost, by Mei Leng Yew, is a comedy-horror-romance inspired by traditional Chinese belief systems surrounding ghosts, ancestral worship and the afterlife. When a young British-Chinese woman ignores superstition and moves in with her girlfriend Naomi at the beginning of the seventh lunar month, she unwittingly allows a ghost to take possession of her body.

Rehearsals - 7 Sept - 5 October
London run - 6-31 October

Description: Hungry ghost of a woman from Ancient China who died very young. Now she has experienced Girl’s life with Naomi, she doesn't want to go back to her own world and is threatening to completely take over Girl.
Has a Chinese accent. Must be a native Cantonese speaker

Name: GIRL - female, British Chinese, 22
Description (Including Language/Accent): British Born Chinese woman who moves in with her girlfriend Naomi, but hasn’t told her parents yet and they think she is still living at home. Becomes possessed by Ghost.
The actor playing GIRL will be portraying multiple characters and must be able to do various British accents and a Chinese accent. Must speak some Cantonese.
